Book Review

Two out of this world books from Firefly are "300 Astronomical Objects,"( $29.95, 528 pages) by Jamie Wilkins and Robert Dunn and "New Atlas of the Moon" by Thierry Legault and Serge Brunier. The former is billed as a visual reference to the universe - noteworthy. The latter is priced at $55.00 and has 128 beautifully designed pages. It is an over-sized beauty that allows one to have a complete guide to observing the moon.

Another worthy from Firefly is "Birds" by Joanna Burger, so reasonably priced at $29.95, filled with more than 500 eye catching photographs - this is a book to leaf through, to learn from, to have on your coffee table. If you are a bird love or know someone who is - this is a book to go for.

"American Vertigo" by Bernard-Henri Levy (Random House, $24.95, 308 pages) is a book to own, a book to treasure. The author spent a year traveling across America, observing, interviewing all kinds of Americans including celebrities like Norman Mailer,  Sharon Stone, etc.) and ordinary folk from all walks of life.  Philosophical and hands on -  this is a heck of a project. Highly recommended.

"Fifty Favorite Fly-Fishing Tales  by Chris Santella (Stewart, Tabori & Chang, $24.95, 223 pages) is required reading for all those practitioners and observers of the sport. It is also a book that will appeal to the general public with its marvelous photos and tales from expert anglers having a time.
