Rialto Restaurant - Boston

One recent evening, we ventured into Cambridge’s Harvard Square for a hearty dinner at Rialto, the chic restaurant located at The Charles Hotel, which opened just four years ago.

This restaurant is so unique - you can come dressed in blue jeans or black tie because this is Harvard Square. Chef Jody Adams uses many New England ingredients to offer dishes like local lettuces with sherry vinaigrette, mint, radishes and edible flowers and Long Island duck with bitter spring greens.
This classic Mediterranean restaurant serves dinner only. The entrees here reflect a touch of Latin influence and the portions are for a guest with an insatiable appetite.

We sampled the Parma ham with buffalo mozzarella and tomatoes ($13) which was light and flavorful. The crab cakes were crispy and served with seaweed salad ($13). The mushroom stuffed pasta bundles were my favorite ($13) served with light creamy squash blossoms.

The appetizers seemed to complement the entrees. Everything here is fresh and lively - even the atmosphere.

Our main courses, the fried sole with tomato vinaigrette was tender and crispy ($27). The Tuscan style sirloin with portobella mushrooms and arugula salad ($31) was cooked to perfection with a cool red center.

The restaurant sits high atop the hotel and overlooks the infamous Harvard Square. We knew it was a place many romantics frequent and even saw a man propose to his girlfriend at dinner.

If Jody Adams is as personable as her food is impeccable, then it must be true that delicious food reflects the chef’s personality. This one is a winner.
