AirTran Airways: A Wonderful Way to Fly (Part
The thought of spending a few February weeks in Miami
Beach out of the cold of New Hampshire was very appealing. The idea of
going back and forth on Business Class on AirTran from Logan airport in
Boston to the Sunshine state was also highly appealing. We had it all planned – the Florida experience and
AirTran to take us there. A wonderful way to fly on a carrier featuring
low fares, XM Satellite Radio and EasyFit Overhead Bins - -and for us
perhaps best of all -- a highly affordable Business Class that is
available as an upgrade from any fare class on a first come, first
$80 for Long-Range
$60 for Medium-Range
$40 for Short-Range
We have been in more luxurious Business Class
scenarios – but only on longer flights. Here, there was ample legroom,
comfortable two-by-two seats, lots of privacy, even free drinks -- all
of which beat flying in coach any day.
AirTran also has bragging rights
to excellent customer service and one of the world's youngest all-Boeing
fleets. We experienced the ballyhooed super service. Flight attendants
were always available, smiling, efficient, most anxious to minister to
all passenger needs. It was like the old days when airlines cared about
AirTran’s mission statement to “Be the best in
everything we do every day" is met big-time.
