We first visited Chart House many years ago and it
is nice to see good food never changes.
Located in one of the oldest buildings on Bostons historic Long
Wharf, the restaurant is situated in what was once John Hancocks office. His
original safe can even be found on the second floor.
Chart House offers three floors of dining area and has a maximum
capacity of 260 guests. The best part is you can visit them in one of their 59 locations
We started our evening with lobster cakes ($8.95), which were light
and crisp, filled with lobster, shrimp and saffron risotto served with sherry cayenne
sauce. The Tiger Shrimp Cocktail ($9.50) was fresh and tender, served with spicy cocktail
Each dinner entree was served with a choice of a bottomless garden or
Caesar salad served at your table. Some locations offered a salad bar but the Boston
location did not.
Dinner here is great - you can sit at your table and watch the boats
sail by out the window or you can watch as guests line up to go to the Aquarium next door.
I chose the pepper steak, prepared with a green peppercorn rub and
served with roasted shallots and a flavorful red wine sauce ($26.95). Even though I
requested the beef to be cooked medium, it was served rare but it was very tender and
My dining companion selected the Callahan Cut Prime Rib ($23.95), a
20-24 ounce, extra thick cut served on the bone, which he enjoyed tremendously.
Chart House offers an extensive wine list to complement their beef
and seafood selections.
This casual yet upscale restaurant was a perfect place to relax and
enjoy some fine food.
