Travel the World with Terrific Tomes from Rizzoli:
“Yacht Clubs of the World” & “Spectacular Scotland”

“Yacht Clubs of the World” text by Bruno Cianci and Nicolo Reggio (Rizzoli, $100.00, 270 pages) is one of the most beautiful books ever produced by a company that has produced many beautiful books. Page after page in brilliant, bold, color unfolds as one becomes mesmerized by the magnificence of this opulent opus. We are there with enjoying twenty storied venues like the New York Yacht Club, the Hong Kong Yacht Club, the Yacht Club de France and on and on. Yachting’s culture is on display and the reader (viewer) is all the better for it. MOST NOTABLE.

"Spectacular Scotland"  by James Gracie (Universe/Rizzoli, $24.95, 140 pages) is as its title notes lays claim to one of the most incredible and beautiful places on the globe. We experienced it, and know firsthand of what we speak. This splendid art book showcases 150 magnificent photos of people and places.

Glasgow and Edinburgh are highlighted but so are many unique places that never get the up close and personal treatment. Author Gracie knows his subject well, and we are all the better for it as the nation's wondrous coastline, its islands and beaches and  stone walls, highways and byways all are there for us to see and to read about. If you have never been to Scotland, this book takes you there. If you have experienced this unique country, "Spectacular Scotland" takes you back.  A MEMORABLE WORK.

NOTABLE FROM NORTON: “The Southern Journey of Alan Lomax” by Tom Piazza, $35.00 is an exceptional piece of work melding words, photographs, music in the form of a CD that has a dozen songs by artists photographed in the book. The work is essentially a celebration and a documentation of Alan Lomax’s recording trip through the American South of the late fifties. Lomax recorded 80 hours of music and conversation and took incredible photographs that complemented that voyage. This is a book to buy, to savor, to keep.
