Perfecto:  Hertz in South Florida

So much to see and so much to do and so many places to go in February in Miami Beach and three terrific weeks to do it in.

A car rental is a must -- and not just any car rental from any company but a sports car, a convertible and the top of the heap company to rent from  - - heavenly Hertz!

After all, weren’t we FROMMERLUXURYTRAVEL!

We decided to skip the route of airport pickup and return and go for getting and returning our Audi Cabriolet convertible at the Fontainebleau Hotel location on Collins Avenue close to where we were staying. The pickup was effortless. The silver beauty was  waiting for us at the agreed at price and we were off.

The top stayed down over the next day and we drew admiring glances on every road and byway. Parkers at the hotels out-did themselves to get a chance to get behind the wheel.

But then there was a small problem. We could not get the top to go up. The old memory of a negative experience with an Audi came back to mind.  But this was 2007. This was Miami Beach. This was Hertz.

We drove to the main Hertz location near South Beach and capable, concerned and knowledgeable reps made the slight adjustment and we never worried about technical glitches again.

All over Miami Beach -  to the beach, to dinner at Joe’s Stone Crab which was better than advertised and the price was right, to hotel hopping, to South Beach (driving down Ocean Drive along with the other tourists and taking in the scene), to the Florida Keys - through it all, the ride was as important as the destination.

When our time in the sun was finally and sadly over, we winced at the thought of having to return the splendid, silver  Audi Cabriolet convertible. But all things come to and end. The return was as effortless as the pickup.

Ah, if all travel experience were as heavenly as renting a car from Hertz.
