Volkl Supersport Supersepeed Skis and Boots

By: Kellie K. Speed

This winter season certainly heralds some impressive innovations in ski technology.  From faster, sleeker, more manageable skis to anti fogging goggles, there seems to be something for both the novice and expert skier alike.  If you are seeking a stylish new look on the slopes this winter, try some of these hottest products to complete your look:

Volkl Supersport Superspeed Skis:

For the expert skier, you are about to experience the true powerhouse in versatility - one of the most high-speed skis available, allowing you accelerate at warp speed towards the next mogul.  Volkl’s Supersport Superspeed skis are chock full of technology that have reset the bar for high performance all-mountain skis.  The Superspeed features a new shape with 70mm waist width for greater stability.  Built with a full bore racing type construction featuring Volkl’s double grip carbon technology and two full sheets of titanium, the Superspeed creates incredible edge grip that gives skiers more confidence than ever before.  Double grip carbon uses two additional wood cores positioned in longitudinal chambers above each edge, tapering down toward the tip and tail, which increases the support for the edge, creating a better edge grip.  When the Supersport 5 Star was introduced in 2002, it created a dramatic shift among top all-mountain skiers from racing skis to this new ski type by making great turns on groomed snow while offering the versatility to adapt to changing conditions.  The newest 5 star suits aggressive skiing advanced through expert skiers while the 4 star provides the same for the hard skiing intermediate.  Suggested retail is $1,200.

Tecnica Diablo Flame Ski Boots:

Tecnica has recently introduced its revolutionary ski boot concept known as Diablo, built to incorporate the changes in skiing techniques designed to maximize performance.  Three different materials are used to offer different levels of hardness.  The result is a boot that offers improved performance, fit and comfort.  Hard and soft materials along with a ribbed construction process blend together to offer strength where it is needed for energy transmission and softness for wrap and fit.  The Diablo features a lower volume heel, ankle and leg shaft while providing moderate to high volume forefoot with an asymmetrical toe box.  It also sports magnesium buckles, which are 70 percent lighter and stronger than traditional buckles.  The Diablo features a unique first buckle position to allow for a better wrap and closure around the foot, while lifting the buckle away from the snow for less interference.  Suggested retail is $595 and up.
